if it be your will

ungainly awkward
i throw clouds at the sky.
useless as tears in the rain
my fists roll thunder
along the silent backs
and damp green creases
of my mountain home –
the trees look away as i walk.

what use is this anger
that cannot spit lightning
or defend the unspeaking
with a smite or a curse
and a soft gentle gentling
of earth.
what if my feet
don’t tell the truth
what if the moon sings
just for me.
